(World Loong's Day)。 In the warm and beautiful spring, we write to your organization, suggesting that "Loong Head Festival", which falls on the second day of the second month of the Chinese lunar calendar (a date between February and March in the Gregorian calendar every year), be set up as "World Loong's Day" in reference to the establishment of world festivals such as "World Environment Day", "World Population Day" and "World Water Day", etc.. |

褒堫^節(jié)”也稱“春龍節(jié)”等,是中國人傳承了上千年的敬祀龍神的日子,民謠唱曰:“二月二,龍?zhí)ь^,大倉滿,小倉流?!?/p> Loong is a deity created and displayed by the Chinese nation through the integration of many animals and celestial phenomena in nature. Its essence is the perception, cognition and deification of the universe's natural forces. Most Chinese people worship and love loong, and regard loong as the spiritual symbol and cultural symbol of the nation. They consider themselves as the "descendants of loong" in the humanistic sense. "Loong Head Festival", also known as "Spring Loong Festival" and so on, is a day to have been inherited for thousands of years to worship the God of Loong. A folk song says: "On the second day of the second month of the Chinese lunar calendar, the God of Loong heads up. Big granaries will be full, small granaries will be fuller." The Chinese nation is the most populous nation of worshiping and loving loong in the world. At present, there are more than 60 million overseas Chinese living in nearly 200 countries and regions around the world. They have spread to all parts of the world Chinese long-standing and profound loong culture, as well as the customs of worshiping and loving loong such as loong dancing and loong boat racing. Loong culture has become a worldwide culture. UNESCO is the specialized agency of the United Nations with the largest membership in the fields of international education, science and culture. Its purpose is to promote cooperation among nations through education, science and culture and contribute to world peace and security. "Loong Head Festival" is set up as "World Loong's Day", which is in line with such purpose. Chinese loong culture has developed for at least eight thousand years. So far, it has formed the spiritual connotation of "inclusion (compatibility, tolerance, synthesis, combination), blessing, harmony and forging ahead". These spiritual connotations are consistent with the interdependent global values, which are made up of the view of international power, of common interests, of sustainable development, and of global governance. |

At present, the entire human race has entered a diverse and complex international community consisting of the world's multipolarization, economic globalization, cultural pluralism and social informatization. The people of the global village can only unite and cooperate so as to meet the serious challenges to human survival posed by epidemic diseases, food security, resource shortages, climate change, cyber attacks, population explosion, environmental pollution, transnational crime, refugee flows and religious conflicts. Taking "Loong Head Festival" as "World Loong's Day", the people of the global village will carry out various positive and beneficial related activities on this day. It will help to carry forward the loong's spirit of "inclusion, blessing, harmony and forging ahead" and strengthen their unity and cooperation to meet the above-mentioned challenges. From the perspective of cultural exchanges and sharing of high-quality resources, this can be described as "Chinese beauty makes the world beautiful, and the world shares different nations' beauty". Loong used to be mistakenly called "(Chinese) dragon". What needs to explain is, there are significant differences in essence, function and image between "loong" in Chinese culture and "dragon" in Western culture. In Chinese culture, loong is an auspicious god or a mascot with a lofty status. Although there are some negative load-bearings in Chinese history, but up to now, loong on the whole has already represented goodness and beauty. What it contributes to the human beings is basically a blessing and constructive positive energy. Dragon in western culture has a low status. It is a monster, a demon ,and also a symbol of ferocity, war and terror. On the whole, it represents evil and ugliness, providing mankind with basically a disastrous, and destructive negative energy. It is the object to be debased, to be killed and to be suppressed. From the image, a loong has a big head, a wide mouth, a thick and small belly, and smooth and soft scales; a dragon has a small head, a sharp mouth, hard scales with spines, and it has huge bat-like wings. Overall view of them, a loong is handsome and beautiful while a dragon is hideous and ugly. 因此,“世界龍日”的英譯應(yīng)為:“World Loong's Day”,而不是“World Dragon's Day”。 Therefore, the day should be called "World Loong's Day", not "World Dragon's Day". |

This proposal is kindly forwarded to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
