Father
A masterpiece of Nature
His furrowed brow, sculpted by the wind
Bronze skin, painted by the sun
The Road
Father has walked
Roughly etched upon his brow
He's reluctant to pass it down to us
The Plow
Father's back-----
Which soil blossom
Doesn't unfurl with his back arched
The Past
Is all etched in relief
On father's callused palms
Hard to erase
The Laughter Mother Brought Over
Steamy and vibrant
Echoes around the dining table
Enveloping the whole family
Not a Hearsay
Never seen an iron bar ground into a needle
But seen mother flattened our washboard
Through many hot summers and cold winters
Wings
Holding Dad with my left hand
Mom with my right
I am a bird that knows how to fly
An Old Farmer
With a hoe in hand
He pulls the sun from east to west
Then shoulders the crescent moon downhill
Campus Beauty
In the calm night sky
Where lightning strikes
Storms swiftly brew
Hooking Fish
By a never-fallen pine tree
An elder cradles a fishing rod
Its hook, quietly awaits in the mirrored wind
and clouds
