Chantelle Huang,Society Director of HIYA— Lin, Chih-Chu: Expressing the Warmth and Depth of Life with a Paintbrush
Writing under the guise of love, even though the body is confined to the mundane world, the spirit can transcend worldly constraints, resonating emotionally with ordinary people like ascending to the heavens, evoking a sense of romance and leaving indescribable sentiments. Stepping into the Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, one slows down, enveloped in a romantic atmosphere, and thoughts drift back to that era intertwined with wind and rain.

Mr.Lin, Chih-Chu, revered as the "Father of Taiwanese Oil Painting," is a master artist who has dedicated his life to exploring the beauty and warmth of life with his paintbrush. Born in Daya, Taichung, he has had an unbreakable bond with art since childhood. At the age of twelve, he went to Japan to study, later enrolling in Musashino Art University. This marked the official beginning of his artistic journey. Despite facing numerous challenges, his determination to return home remained steadfast. Even during difficult times, he refused to yield, working in the fields to earn money for his passion for painting. His youthful vigor remains undiminished, and his warmth and affection are evident in every stroke of his brush.

The most eye-catching piece in the venue is undoubtedly Mr.Lin,Chih-Chu's remarkable "Morning Coolness," which he presented at the Celebration Exhibition for the 2600th Anniversary of the Era when he was just 24 years old. Unlike the impressions one might have from textbooks, this painting is immense, measuring 283 centimeters in height and 182 centimeters in width. Creating such a large-scale work took Mr. Lin Zhijun a full two months, just for the composition alone. Each color palette required meticulous development over 2-3 days. Standing in front of the original, I truly felt the awe-inspiring nature of this painting. It is not merely a piece of art but a vivid story, a scene teeming with life. I felt as though I had been transported into a serene yet grand world, experiencing the deep emotions and sincerity conveyed by the artist's brushstrokes.

Lin,Chih-Chu's artistic style is diverse, evolving from the early influence of the "Emperor's Exhibition" and "Provincial Exhibition" to the integration of Western painting techniques in the middle period, and then to a return to realistic expression in his later years. His artistic style has always been characterized by continuous innovation and breakthroughs, vividly presenting the warmth and profundity of life experiences through his brushstrokes.
