在昏暗的沙漠公路上 風(fēng)吹發(fā)間有些微涼；
科里塔斯的濃郁馨香 正在空中升騰而上。
我抬頭向著遠(yuǎn)方遙望 看到一絲閃爍的燈光，
我開始感到頭昏目眩 難以繼續(xù)驅(qū)車如常，
只能找個(gè)地方 度過晚上時(shí)光。
就在那個(gè)地方 她恰好佇立于門廊——
我聽到教堂鐘聲正在敲響，
而我當(dāng)時(shí)心中也在不由暗想：
這地方 有可能是地獄 也有可能是天堂。
然后她將燭光點(diǎn)亮，
她也為我指引著方向。
此時(shí)沿著走廊 正傳來陣陣聲響，
我想 我聽到他們是在宣講：
“歡迎光臨加州旅館——
多么迷人的地方，多么迷人的面龐。
加州旅館擁有充足的客房，
一年中任何時(shí)光 這地方都恭候你來訪！”
她的心沉迷珠光寶氣已執(zhí)迷不悟；
她為能坐擁奔馳豪車而甘為俘虜；
她擁有風(fēng)流少年數(shù)不勝數(shù) 都伴其左右——
但她統(tǒng)統(tǒng)稱其為朋友。
他們在庭院里起舞何其歡愉，
任由夏日香汗淋漓——
有人起舞是為記取 有人起舞則為忘記。
于是我呼叫領(lǐng)班“請為我取來些酒”，
他答復(fù) 自1969年后我們已經(jīng)不再擁有此物。
而自那遠(yuǎn)方 依然在不斷傳來那些聲響，
令你驚醒 就在漫漫長夜的中央，
只聽到他們在宣講：
“歡迎光臨加州旅館——
多么迷人的地方，多么迷人的面龐。”
他們在加州旅館不拘一格盡情享樂，
迷人景色不容錯過 使你有著絕佳開脫。
天花板鑲嵌著反光鏡 粉紅香檳擱置于冰中，
而她說我們悉數(shù) 只是這里的囚徒，
受困于自身欲望的束縛。
而就在旅館主人的房間里，
他們?yōu)樨S盛宴席而歡聚，
他們合力 揮舞著手中的鋒利刀具，
但卻偏偏對獵殺野獸無能為力。
我持有的最后印象，
是我正跑向門口的方向——
我必須找到來時(shí)途經(jīng)的走廊，
以返還我先前所在的地方。
“莫要緊張，”守夜人對著我講——
“我們生來就是誘惑難當(dāng)。
你可以隨時(shí)隨意選擇結(jié)帳退房，
但你永遠(yuǎn)無法離得開這地方。”

And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place, such a lovely face
They live it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling, the pink champagne on ice
And she said we are all just prisoners here
Of our own device
And in the master’s chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can’t kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
“Relax,” said the Night Man
“We are programmed to receive,
You can check out any time you like,
But you can never leave”
