Vitality
By Xue Fei
From the very moment I saw you,
I no longer doubt the world,
Nor do I doubt the arrival of spring.
It's not just the gentle willow breeze that doesn't chill the face,
It's clearly the fragrance of flowers wafting across the mountains and fields.
A smile hangs on the branches,
The spring breeze ripples in our hearts,
Warmth, full of vitality.
I'm lost in the colorful splendor of my dream,
Lost in the illusion of your blooming.

Xue Fei's "Vitality" is a poem brimming with vigorous vitality and beautiful emotions, full of praise for spring and the person one loves between the lines. At the beginning, the poet expresses his feelings directly. From the moment he sees "you", he is full of certainty about the world and spring, laying a positive and warm tone for the whole poem. "You" can not only refer to a specific person but also symbolize the hope brought by spring.
"The gentle breeze that doesn't chill the face is not just the willow wind./ It's clearly the fragrance of flowers wafting across the mountains and fields." This skillfully adapts the line "The willow wind caresses my face without a chill" by Monk Zhinan. It expands the sensory experience of spring. There is not only the gentle wind but also the rich fragrance of flowers, outlining the vigorous vitality of spring from multiple angles and bringing the reader into a spring world full of vitality and fragrance. "A smile hangs on the branches,/ The spring breeze ripples in our hearts." Using the personification technique, the smile on the branches endows nature with human emotions. The spring breeze rippling in the heart realizes the integration of scenery and emotion, making the warmth and joy in the heart tangible.
"I'm lost in the colorful splendor of my dream,/ Lost in the illusion of your blooming." At the end, it echoes the theme again. "Colorful splendor" depicts the gorgeous colors of spring, and "the illusion of your blooming" combines the real with the illusory. "The illusion" gives a hazy aesthetic feeling. The poet is lost in it, showing his obsession with beautiful things and making the poem leave a long aftertaste in a dreamy atmosphere. This poem has a fresh and natural language, rich imagery, sincere emotions. It expresses the vitality and love in the heart through the scenery of spring, allowing readers to deeply feel the vitality and beauty of life.
