左宗棠西征記

歲在光緒元年，天山南北亂起。阿古柏?fù)?jù)喀什，自稱汗王。俄人乘隙入伊犁，據(jù)其地。朝廷震動，廷議紛紜。
左公時年六十有四，白發(fā)蕭然。聞西陲告急，慨然曰："老臣雖衰，敢辭王事？"遂拜欽差大臣，督辦新疆軍務(wù)。
是年秋，左公發(fā)蘭州。親督三軍，舁櫬以行。將士見之，莫不感奮。軍至肅州，糧餉不繼。公令士卒屯田，自與農(nóng)夫同耕作。幕僚勸曰："公貴為督師，奈何親事穡稼？"公笑曰："昔諸葛屯渭濱，今吾耕河西，皆為國耳。"
二年春，師出玉門。戈壁千里，水草絕跡。公命將士負(fù)水囊，攜苜蓿種，沿途布之?；蜃I其迂，公曰："此非獨為今用，更為后人計也。"
五月，戰(zhàn)于古牧地。賊據(jù)險而守，矢石如雨。公親擂鼓，將士蟻附而上。血戰(zhàn)三日，克其城。公入城，見餓殍遍地，令開倉賑饑。有司曰："此軍糧也。"公斥曰："民無食，軍安得獨飽？"
八月，師至達(dá)坂。阿古柏聞風(fēng)膽裂，飲藥自盡。其子伯克胡里遁走俄境。公遣將窮追，盡復(fù)南疆諸城。
三年春，俄使來議伊犁事。公陳兵邊境，列炮百門。俄人懾其威，終還我伊犁九城。
公在西陲凡六載，植柳三千里，人稱"左公柳"。及歸，囊無余財，惟載天山雪水一甕，曰："使子孫知西征之苦也。"
太史公曰：左公以垂暮之年，建不世之功。其用兵也，如雷霆震擊；其治民也，如春風(fēng)化雨。昔班超投筆定遠(yuǎn)，今左公舁櫬收疆，皆丈夫之烈也。然公之功，豈獨在拓土哉？每觀西域道上，楊柳依依，猶見老臣心在玉門西也。

Huang Qingbao, born in 1939, is a member of the Communist Party of China. His native place is Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, and he now resides in Shanghai City. He is a certification committee member of the Member Archive Database of the Chinese Poets and Writers Network, a certified poet and contracted poet of the Chinese Poets and Writers Network, a contracted writer and poet of the Red Lotus Literary Poetry Society, a contracted writer and poet of the World Writers' Lanyunfu Poetry Society, and the chief editor of the Chinese Poets and Writers Network. He has created more than a thousand pieces of prose, novels, and poems, which have been published on online platforms and newspapers and periodicals such as the Chinese Poets and Writers Network. He has won the Excellence Award of the First Feng Chusheng International Poetry Competition, the Outstanding Literature Award for Poets Contracted by the Five Academicians, the Strength Literature Award of the Golden Poetry Starlight Cup, the Chief Editor's Excellence Award of the Chinese Poets and Writers Network, and the Highest Honor Award for Leading Figures in Literature by the World Poetry Association · Chinese Poets and Writers. Currently, he is the executive chief editor of the Chinese Poets and Writers Network.
